Job Description

This full-time contract position is for an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) serving K-12 students within a specialized school environment in Chicago, IL. The role focuses on supporting students with vision, hearing, other health impairments (OHI), and cognitive challenges.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assessing and developing orientation and mobility strategies tailored to students with visual impairments
  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to support students educational and functional needs
  • Providing direct instruction and mobility training to promote independence and safety
  • Monitoring student progress and maintaining detailed records
  • Communicating with families and school staff regarding mobility plans and accommodations

Qualifications:

  • Current licensure as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS)
  • Experience working with students who have vision and hearing deficits
  • Ability to develop individualized plans that address diverse learning needs
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Commitment to supporting students independence and academic success

This position is full time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Medical, dental, and vision benefits are provided.
