Job Title: Surgical Technologist II – Operating Room
Location: Roanoke, VA 24011
Schedule: Full-Time
Pay: Up to $35.90 per hour

Position Summary:
Participates in the delivery of individualized peri-operative nursing care under the supervision of a licensed physician or registered nurse. Works collaboratively with the surgical team to ensure safe and effective care before, during, and after procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate working knowledge of surgical instrumentation

• Establish and maintain a sterile field and ensure all team members maintain sterile technique

• Safely and accurately pass instruments and supplies to the surgical team

• Participate in sponge, needle, and instrument counts per hospital policy

• Follow all policies, procedures, regulatory standards, and patient safety goals

• Support the nursing process across all patient age groups

• Participate in continuing education and unit-based training activities

Requirements:

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent required

• Completion of an accredited surgical technologist training program

• Holds a current credential as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting or its successor

• Alternatively, completion of a surgical technology program during military service in any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces

Experience:

• No experience required

Licensure, Certification, and Registration:

• Certification in Surgical Technology required

• LPN licensure required for grandfathered employees only

• Must obtain and maintain registration with the Virginia Department of Health Professions

Life Support:

• Must obtain and maintain AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP)

Other Qualifications:

• Successful completion of a structured orientation program
