Job Description
Peer Leaders will provide programming assistance to other participants at the Teen Center for youth during the school year. Will provide peer leadership for program activities and assist in facilitating focus groups.
ESSENTIAL TASKS
Responsible for assisting with supervision, implementation, planning, and preparation of Arts and Recreation programming and activities.
Provide a positive role model for other members of the program.
Assist with focus groups when appropriate.
Assume a position of Leadership as assigned on tasks with CITs.
Meet in weekly individual supervision with Youth Employee Coordinator.
Meet in weekly group supervision with Youth Employee Coordinator.
Attending all youth employee meetings, trainings, and assigned programs.
Complete additional tasks as assigned by the Program Manager.
Trained in and able to implement crisis de-escalation techniques.
Trained in youth mediation skills (if applicable)
Participate in all youth activities, including field trips.
QUALIFICATIONS
Able to acquire and demonstrate appropriate work behavior including attendance, focus on job tasks, ability to follow through with instructions.
Maintain good school attendance and performance and have a disposition and capability to work well with youth of diverse backgrounds, receive constructive criticism from and work with adults, and invest in own personal growth and professional development.
Provide a positive role model to others in the program.
Linguistic capacity to work with identified population.
Persistent to engage youth especially when they are not interested in participating.
Energetic and upbeat, especially on bad days.
